what should i invest in ?
Seeing how i might be leaving GW due to the fact that i can't play that much anymore, what should i invest all my money in so that if i were to return, i wouldn't lose so much / gain .

Lockpicks if u want constant value (although just leaving ur cash there does the same thing), or rare mini's if u want it to increase. Weapons will only drop in value, and ectos etc vary in price 2 much

I've invested into ectos. Yes they vary too much in price, but with a suspected PvE nerf it could be even harder to obtain Ectos. Plus I'm planning to purchase more FoW. If these hoarders choose to flood the market soon, hopefully I'll spot it and jump on the wagon too ^^
The point I'm trying to make is try to invest into something you may be aiming to obtain/achieve later on. Turn it to cash if you need to buy sweet/party points, ectos if you're buying rare weapons/FoW armour. |

I would spend my gold, buy as many titles as you can, fill your hall and wait for GW2
This is the true investment that will have some benefits in the future. I am working on filling my hall. I have only 2 parts of it to display the max mount of stuff and then I will get 5 Maxed titles and get my Rainbow Phoenix and then fill my menagerie and I will be ready for GW2. |

My guess would be sell all your ecto for gold now. Wait untill guru is filled with omg 1337sauce uw sc's and ecto price will go down again, and buy the ecto's again, should make a nice profit :3
But if you really are going on pauze, I would definatly buy an unded limited rare mini or nerfed oldschool weapon. Things that don't drop anymore tend to raise in price as people are only getting richer. |

There's no poit in hoarding all the money for nothing, if you want to invest it, invest in your HoM and GW2 instead of some ultra-rare mini just in case you might want to come back in the future and still be filthy rich and keep on doing nothing with your money then. |

Investing in GW2
Quote:
It is not trick my friend. Go to the GW Face Book page cause there is some explinations there on the fact that some things will have "bennifits" (that is a actual word that is used) to help in GW2. They hint that it will be part of the "family history" of the toons that you will make in GW2. I am going to assume that some of the weapons will be transferable. So the Tormented Weapons will add much value to GW2 cause they are very expensive now in GW1 If this also holds true, then a req13 Tormented Sword might have the same benefit as a req9 sword cause it transfers sword to sword and not req to req. Wouldn't that be interesting. I decided to go destroyer weapons in my hall cause they are cheaper and now I am just going to buy the first year whites for my mini's in my hall and that should do it for my monuments. Then I need just 4 more titles maxed as I have Prot of Tyria now. I will get the other 4 by doing finishing my skills hunter for Prophecies and completing Factions and NF. That should be 5 titles and the rainbow birdie. Then I will focus totally on my Lucky title cause its Very hard to get. That should provide an awesome bonus for GW2 cause its the longest and most expensive title to get. 10,000 chests is a lot of chests. I have opened almost 4,000 chest so I still have a bit more than 6,000 chests to go.. or 2 month of doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over... |

And could you provide a link to the part where the 'benefits' are explained? (that's the actual word ) I only ever remember talk about the stuff from the HoM wouldn't give you an advantage over new players. Last edited by Arduin; Feb 02, 2010 at 04:16 PM // 16:16.. |

I see everyone suggesting against ectos because their prices fluctuate so much, but what about black dyes? Do their prices change that much?

ac1inferno, Black dyes have actually increased a bit. Few weeks ago they were around 8k each. Few days ago @ 11k each, so yeah they fluctuate quite a bit

As for the advantage part that you mentioned. If you complete all the missions in all of the 3 "chapters" then that is 4 titles and you only need more more.. like skills hunter. Fill your hall with items and POOF.. you are no longer disadvantaged. It only takes 1 week to do each chapter in Normal Mode. Then a week to do just one skills hunter title. So.. in 5 weeks your up to me and I have been playing for 3 years cause I played mostly in presearing making myself super rich. I own my OWN Guild with Full Hall, only me in it on 3 of my 5 accounts. I have tormented Shield, Voltalic Spear req9, Obsidian Armor, Everlasting Asuran Tonic, Chaos Gloves, Chaos Axe old school req9 and stacks of ectos and mini destroyer and junk. So gold.. is a mute point for me. so... All the gold and ectos that I have in GW1 will be useless in GW2 -and the purpose of this thread is what to invest in - so I have started on my hall in Nov. Since then I have 6 Elite Armor sets, I got Kur/lux luck/unluck prot or tyr tropyies in my hall and my hero's/pets and bought the goods for the destroyer weapons and all I need is like 16 more pets - white of course - and then.. Max the 4 more titles and I have a full hall. GW2 will not come out till 2011 from what we are hearing.. so it should only take you a month to get full benefits from your hall for GW2. |

you should DEFINITELY turn money into something else. it's totally logical to risk the value rising/dropping for absolutely no reason at all. but then again i believe you should play it safe and buy something with a constant and steady value so that it will make your pointless endeavors that much more pointless.
godspeed. |
